Procurement / AI use case
See shortages. Prepare options.
An alert does not secure the missing material. NyxAI connects a potential shortage to affected orders, reliable inventory evidence and the next options a planner can actually assess.

The business question
In stock does not always mean usable in time.
Inventory may be reserved, blocked or at another site. A purchase order may contain a date the supplier has never confirmed. Simple overviews can make these signals look equally reliable.
Planners still need to turn them into a workable response: what is missing when, which orders are affected, and which alternatives are feasible?
From input to output
How the workflow can work.
The pilot combines read-only inventory, demand and purchase-order data for one material group. Existing planning systems remain authoritative. Where records arrive with a delay, statements are limited to that snapshot rather than presented as a live status.
- Stock by location, reservation and release status
- Time-phased demand and affected order references
- Open purchase orders, confirmed delivery dates and known transport constraints
- 01
Establish coverage
Compare demand with stock usable at the relevant time. Keep data freshness, reservations and unconfirmed receipts separately visible.
- 02
Identify the impact
Connect critical materials to affected orders and the latest useful intervention point. Prioritize using agreed operating criteria.
- 03
Prepare responses
Show possible clarification, transfer or replenishment actions with their prerequisites and outstanding confirmations. Recheck the current state before any execution.
The key review boundary
Supply availability, substitute products and changed priorities need professional confirmation. A proposal is neither a delivery promise nor proof of a mathematically optimal solution. Orders and transports are not initiated automatically.
The resultA prioritized worklist with evidenced shortages, affected records and comparable responses. Planners can see which information supports a decision and which commitments still need confirmation.
One workflow. Three situations.
What changes when …?
Choose a situation and follow the handover. An illustration using fixed sample data, not live AI or a client project.
The example requires 120 released components by Friday. 80 are available and a confirmed receipt of 50 will arrive in time.
The quantity is covered under the stated assumptions. Other reservations have already been accounted for in this example.
No shortage alert for this snapshot; the confirmed receipt and assumptions remain traceable.
Ready for reviewStart focused. Compare fairly.
What the pilot should be measured against.
- Available response time
- Record when a confirmed shortage became visible with enough context and when action became possible.
- Useful warnings
- Assess confirmed shortages, false alarms and missed cases separately against the planning team’s review.
- Feasible responses
- Check which proposals remained executable after verifying stock, timing and ownership.
A practical initial scope
One material group, a bounded planning horizon and an accountable planning team. Replay historical situations, then compare proposals alongside the current plan.
- Inventory and demand snapshots tied to known times
- Purchase orders with confirmed and unconfirmed dates
- Recorded shortage decisions and known exceptions
Agree acceptance criteria first
Evaluation combines correct coverage checks, useful options and verification effort. Data gaps and unconfirmed dates must remain visible; hypothetical proposals alone do not establish realized savings.

Does this replace our planning system?
No. The initial scope supports preparation: connecting records, explaining exceptions and making options reviewable. Existing planning systems and their responsible users remain authoritative.
Does the solution always calculate the optimal plan?
No. This page describes coverage checks and preparation of responses. An optimization model with explicit objectives and constraints would be a further stage requiring its own quality evidence.
Can substitutes or other sites be considered?
Yes, where approvals, mappings and logistics constraints are available. A similarly described component is not an approved substitute, and stock elsewhere is not a confirmed transfer.
